MINUTES
President Shannon Snyder called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. There were 29 members and guests present. Board members in attendance: Shannon Snyder, Carolyn Fishel, Fay Rice, Bob Brachle, Mary Cooper. Guests included City Commissioners Richard Martin and Mary Quillin, Lt. Bill Wall, Public Works representatives Duane Mountain and Bill Hallisey.
Shannon introduced Mr. Mountain who continued his presentation of the Arlington Park design, including lighting, entries, plant pallet and gazebo v. boardwalk.
Mr. Mountain announced the plans for the Payne Park Skate Park at the site of the former mobile home park and plans for Lido pool. Shannon suggested surveillance cameras be installed.
Shannon announced to the membership that this is our annual meeting. Proposed changes to the by-laws were made, as follows:
In addition, a motion was made to approved the minutes of the October meeting. Second. Approved.
Carolyn Fishel reported there was $532.51 in the treasury, and $24 collected at the October meeting, resulting in a total of $556.51 presently in the treasury.
A motion was made to purchase $150 worth of white holiday lights to wrap around the poles along East Avenue. A discussion ensued. Members volunteered to assist. Second. Approved.
A discussion was held about the condition of Kash n Karrys store and parking lot and the sale of beer and wine at late hours. A motion was made to invite the local store manager and Tampa store leadership to a neighborhood meeting. Second. Approved.
Lt. Wall reported: 1) that Code Enforcement will do a sweep of the neighborhood re code violations; and 2) that the Court Watch Program is following a narcotics violation case against a Hillview Apartments resident.
Com. Quillin announced: 1) the Annual Community forum to be held at the Exhibition Hall on Nov. 20. 2) the February opening party at Two Lakes Park and the Bellvue Terrace Neighborhood Association. 3) the results of the Neighborhoods Dept. meeting and the development of strategy and action plans over the next 12 to 18 months for the neighborhoods of Alta Vista, Poinciana Park, Avalon and our area. 4) Updated membership on the issue of the consolidation of the city and county fire departments.
Com. Martin commended Shannon and Carolyn on their work with the neighborhood association. He updated members on the challenge of the Downtown Master Plan.
Shannon announced the proposed slate of officers for FY2003:
President: Carolyn Fishel Vice President: Rhonda Moraca Secretary: Fay Rice Treasurer: Mary Cooper Board Members: Bob Brachle, Joe Moraca and Susan Montgomery. A motion was made to approve the slate. Second. Approved.
Carolyn announced plans in January to set up committees to address membership, the newsletter, grant applications and Friends of Arlington Park.
