The meeting was called to order by President Shannon Snyder at 7:10 P.M. There were 21 members and guests in attendance. Guests were City Commissioner Mary Quillin and City Police Lt. Bill Wall.
Shannon reviewed the minutes of the October meeting; they were approved. He announced the grant application for Court Watch was denied. Funding will be from other sources. Grant money for the newsletter was approved.
Carolyn Fishel gave the treasurer’s report. There was a previous balance of $364.51 and $20 was collected at the October meeting for a total of $384.51. Grant money in the amount of $411.10 was refunded to the City to zero out the previous grant cycle. Current money of $1,511 was to be received for the newsletter after Shannon completes forms sent by the City. ADT contributed $25 to the neighborhood association after a member had a system installed, which was promised at their presentation.
Rhonda Moraca reported on the East Avenue clean-up done on Nov. 10. Twelve people collected 21 lbs. of trash and 17 lbs. of recyclable materials. Signs will be put on for the next clean-up.
Shannon announced he is looking for volunteers to do articles for a newsletter and reported on his meetings with Public Works and the Hospital Neighborhood Advisory Committee.
By-laws were reviewed. Shannon asked for input. There will be no meetings December, July or August. A motion was made to retain the present board members. Second. Approved.
Lt. Wall reported on the crosswalk at US-41 and Hillview after a member brought up concerns. DOT is not inclined to refigure it; they do not want to restrict the north/south flow of traffic.
Com. Qullin reported on the Master Plan on parks and the interconnect. She announced Carolyn Fishel’s appointment to the One-Cent Sales Tax Oversight Committee that meets once a year. Com. Quillin wants a forum scheduled at one of our meetings on the issue of a strong mayor.
Dick Bubil, the Mayor of Waldemere, reported he got a “no trucks” sign with the assistance of Com. Richard Martin. People are still parking on sidewalks, however, and packing material is still flying around. A general discussion was held.
Shannon stated that Joe Moraca has been our representative at the Coalition of City Neighborhoods Association meetings for quite some time. He recommended that Carolyn Fishel be our alternate representative at these meetings. Approved by membership.
The next meeting will be held on January 15. The agenda will include the Arlington Park area north of the swimming pool and playground.
